Check the prices of runes and dyes at their NPC traders before selling them to other players.
Never sell a dye in pre-sear unless you know its value in post-sear.

I don't remember there being rune or dye traders in Pre-Searing, but I haven't been there in too long. If you're in a guild, you could ask a guildmate to check for you. Or, if you've started with Factions or Nightfall, there should be Dye/Rune Traders around.

Most people in Pre-Searing will try to buy dye for 50g. This is especially true for Black dye, which NEVER goes that low in Post-Searing. For both Black and White dye, and sometimes Silver, you can get a few thousand gold for them. For any of the other colors, you can get anywhere from 10g to a couple hundred selling it directly to the trader. Personally, though, it's more fun to just hoard dye for future armors, or give you to guildmates who have something like five sets of armor on a few characters XD
